Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Arrest

On March 25th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 31 year old Kyle Butler of Schodack, NY. Mr. Butler was stopped for failing to maintain a single lane on Columbia Turnpike. Investigation revleaed that Mr. Butler was in possession of a quantity of heroin. Mr. Butler was arrested and processed at the Schodack Police Department. During processing it was determined that Mr. Butler was wanted by the New York State Police in regards to a Robbery that occurred in another jurisdiction the day prior. Mr. Butler was issued an appearance ticket due to appear in the Schodack Town Court on 04/05/2017 at 06:00 PM and turned over to the New York State Police.

Petit Larceny Arrests

On March 24th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 23 year old Joel Rivers and 21 year old Kimberly Gibson both of Schodack, NY. The pair were arrested for the misdeameanor of Petit Larceny after video showed the pair committing a gas drive off at the Stewarts on State Route 20. They were released on an appearance ticket due to appear in the Schodack Town Court on 04/05/2017 at 06:00 PM.

Police pursuit leads to reckless driving, DWI, VTL charges

On Sunday March 19, 2017 at around 6:00 pm members of the New York State Police from K troop were involved in a vehicle pursuit that began in the Town of New Lebanon. The vehicle was operated by Corey D. Cheney, 37 of 14 Traverse St., Rockland, Maine. The troopers attempted to stop Cheney but he refused to comply. By 6:15 pm Troopers had chased Cheney into Rensselaer County and the Town of Schodack. Members of the Town of Schodack Police Department joined the pursuit. On Route 20 a stinger strip was deployed in an attempt to end the pursuit. The tires on Cheney’s car were damage but he continued west on route 20 and onto Columbia Turnpike. Cheney attempted to enter I90 at exit 11E going the wrong way onto the ramp. Schodack police officers used their patrol cars to box Cheney’s vehicle in to prevent him from entering the interstate the wrong way. One Schodack Police patrol SUV was damaged pushing Cheney’s car into a snow bank. Cheney was removed from the vehicle and it was discovered that he had severely injured himself by cutting himself on the forearms. One officer suffered a minor injury to his hand removing Cheney from his vehicle. Cheney was transported to Albany Medical Center with those injuries and to secure a blood draw sample. Cheney was charged with: Reckless endangerment, reckless driving. fail to keep right, passing a red light, moving from lane unsafely, driving over center lane, wrong way on one way road, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree, unlawful fleeing a police officer, DWAI drugs in combination with alcohol, and DWI. There will be additional charges pending. Cheney is scheduled to reappear in Town of Schodack Court on April 26, 2017 at 6:00 pm.

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Arrest

On March 17th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 19 year old Marcus F. Lounds of Schodack, NY. Mr. Lounds was stopped for an exhaust system violation on River Rd. Mr. Lounds was found to be in possession of a quantity of "Xanax", a controlled substance. Mr. Lounds was charged with the misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh degree and other traffic infractions. He was processed and released on appearance tickets due to appear in the Schodack Town Court on 04/05/2017 at 06:00PM.

A passenger in the vehicle was issued an appearance ticket for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

Unlawful Fleeing in Motor Vehicle 3rd Arrest

On March 7th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 38 year old Kyle P. Groff of North Greenbush, NY. Mr. Groff was operating a vehicle at a high rate of speed on Miller Rd and when a Schodack police officer attempted to stop him he fled in a reckless manner ultimately fleeing on foot. Mr. Groff turned himself into the Schodack Police Department voluntarily at a later time and was released on appearance tickets due to appear in the Schodack Town Court at a later date. He was charged with the misdemeanors of Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the third degree, Reckless Driving, and several traffic infractions.

Domestic Incident Arrest

On March 10th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 20 year old Jody Livesay of Hopewell, Virginia. The Schodack Police Department was dispatched to an active domestic at the Bel Air Motel. The female victim reported that during the dispute her boyfriend, Mr. Livesay, had grabbed her by the throat with both hands for nearly a minute while she was holding their one year old child. In addition to that Mr. Livesay was alleged to have head butted the victim, completely destroyed the motel room, stolen a cell phone belonging to the victim preventing her from calling police for assistance, and prevented her from leaving the room when she tried to get away. Mr. Livesay fled the scene on foot but was located walking on State Route 9. Mr. Livesay was arrested for the misdemeanors of Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Unlawful Imprisonment in the 2nd degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree, and the violation of Harassment in the 2nd degree. He was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of bail due to appear back in the Schodack Town Court on 04/05/2017 at 06:00 PM.

2-year-old boy found safe after brief search

Schodack Police Department investigated a report of a missing 2-year-old boy at 2591 Phillips Road. The child was found safe at home after a brief search. Other agencies were called and responded quickly with their resources. In addition to Schodack Police, members of East Greenbush Police, Rensselaer Police, North Greenbush Police, New York State Police, Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office, Albany County Sheriff’s, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and Southern Rensselaer County Search and Rescue worked to find the child. Members searched the interior of the house as well as surrounding property outside. The child was found asleep between pillows in what appeared to be a neatly made bed. The Schodack Police would like to thank all the people who assisted in the search. The Schodack Police Department is thankful that the child was found safe and wish he the family well.

warrant investigation leads to drug arrest and parole violation

Town of Schodack Police arrested Kevin M. Hawver, 52 of 136 Snyder Road, Ghent, NY for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree. Officer Eckel was working with parole officers from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision attempting to locate a different person on an active warrant. Parole officers identified Mr. Hawver as one of their parolees. An investigation revealed that Mr. Hawver had a baggie containing cocaine in his possession. Mr. Hawver was arraigned before Town Justice Wagner and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail for the drug offense and a parole violation. Mr. Hawver’s bail was set at $1,500.00. Mr. Hawver is scheduled to return to Town Court on April 5, 2017 at 6:00 pm

Sex offender registry investigation leads to arrest

Town of Schodack Police arrested Hector Davila, 52 of 1565 Columbia Turnpike for a violation of New York State Correction Law and parole violation. Mr. Davila is a level three (3) sex offender and failed to report his address change within the required time of relocating. Officer Eckel working with parole officers from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision arrested Mr. Davila for Failure to Register and Verify is address, a class E felony, and for a parole violation. Mr. Davila was remanded to Rensselaer County Jail without bail. Mr. Davila is scheduled to return to Town of Schodack Court for a preliminary hearing on March 6, 2017 at 5:00 pm.

Arrest for Burglary and parole violation

On March 2, 2017 Schodack Police arrested Christopher E. Vanderpool, 32 of 1666 Columbia Turnpike, Castleton for burglary and criminal mischief charges out of the City of Troy and a parole violation. Schodack Police along with parole officers from New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision arrested Mr. Vanderpool on a warrant for Burglary 2nd degree and Criminal Mischief 4th degree. Mr. Vanderpool is under parole supervision and is also facing a parole violation. Mr Vanderpool was arrested and turned over to Troy Police Department.

Investigation leads to charges for criminal contempt of court

On March 1, 2017 Schodack Police arrested Chyanne Farrell, 18 of 5 Center Lane Glenmont for criminal contempt in the second degree for violating an order of protection. Ms. Farrell contacted a 15-year-old male with whom she had been ordered to avoid contact. The order of protection was issued in the Town of Bethlehem Court by Town Justice Ryan Donovan. Ms Farrell sent a cell phone message to the victim through a third party. Ms. Farrell was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Town of Schodack Court on April 5, 2017 at 6:00 pm.
