Traffic stop leads to felony drug arrest

On February 18, 2018 at around 10 pm in the area of exit 12 on the westbound side of I90, Schodack Police stopped a vehicle for speeding. An interview and investigation led to the arrest of the driver Owen M. Bassick, 19 of Norfolk, MA for crimina possession of a controlled substance 5th degree (felony), criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree (misdemeanor), unlawfull possession of marijuana (violation), and speed in zone (traffic infraction). A passenger in the vehicle Brian R. Karsberg, 19 of Medway, MA was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree (misdemeanor) and unlawful possession of marijuana (violation). Both Bassick and Karsberg were arrainged in Town of Schodack Court. Bassick was remanded to Renssealer County Jail in lieu of $1000.00 cash bail or $2500.00 bail bond. Bassick was scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Town of Schodack Court on 02/22/2018 at 1:00pm. Karsberg was released to Rensselaer County Probation Day Reporting and scheduled to reapear in Town of Schodack Court on 03/14/2018 at 6:00pm.

Assault 2nd Degree

On January 25th, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 31 year old Tabetha Drew of Schodack, NY. Ms. Drew was arrested after being involved in a physical altercation at the Four Seasons Motel where she had caused serious physical injury to a patron at the motel. She was arrested and charged with the felony of Assault in the 2nd degree. She was released on her own recognizance due to appear back in the Schodack Town Court on 02/14/2018 at 06:00 PM.

Burglary 2nd Degree Arrest

On January 20th, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 46 year old James File of Nassau, NY. Mr. File was arrested for the felonies of Burglary in the 2nd degree and Criminal Contempt in the 1st degree after breaking into his ex-girlfriends house when she was not home, in violation of an order of protection that was recently put into place. He was arrested at the residence as officers had set up a perimeter with the assistance of the New York State Police. He was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail. A preliminary hearing was set for 01/24/2018 at 03:00 PM in the Schodack Town Court.

Criminal Contempt 2nd Arrest

On January 6th, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 36 year old Jared Leinfelder of Schodack, NY. Mr. Leinfelder was arrested for the misdemeanor of Criminal Contempt 2nd degree after he was observed by an officer in a vehicle, at the Dunkin' Donuts on Columbia Tpk, with an ex-girlfriend who had a full stay away order of protection against him. He was processed at SPD and released on an appreance ticket due to appear in the Schodack Town Court on 01/10/2018 at 06:00 PM.

First Degree Rape Arrest

On January 3rd, 2018 at 09:33 PM the Schodack Police Department arrested 46 year old Chester Everetts of Schodack, NY. The Schodack Police Department responded to a report of a man in the roadway on Columbia Turnpike in the area of the Four Seasons Motel. Patrol officers located Mr. Everetts in the motel and were confronted by several people stating the man was intoxicated and causing a disturbance at the motel and the plaza across the road. His motel room had been destroyed and a victim came forward during the investigation stating the same man had restrained her in her motel room and forcibly raped her. Mr. Everetts then fought with the officers on the scene only complying second before the deployment of a TASER. Mr. Everettes was charged with the felonies of Rape 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree and the misdemeanors of Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail with no bail and a preliminary hearing was set for 01/10/2018 in the Schodack Town Court.

Robbery 3rd Arrest

On January 3rd, 2018 the Schodack Police Department arrested 34 year old Carla Maddalla of Nassau, NY. The Schodack Police Department responded to the Mobil on Miller Rd for a larceny in progress with a suspect fleeing the scene. Ms. Maddalla attempted to steal a six pack of beer and when confronted by employees she used physical force in order to escape. Ms. Maddalla was located and taken into custody with the charges of Robbery 3rd Degree, Petit Larceny and Attemped Assault 3rd Degree. She was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail with $15,000 bail and a preliminary hearing was set for 01/08/2018 at 03:00 PM.

His BAC was 0.08%. He was released with traffic tickets due to appear back in the Schodack Town Court.

Unlawful Possession of Personal ID Arrest

On December 15th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 16 year old Austin Hoag of Schodack, NY. Mr. Hoag was arrested for Petit Larceny and Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification Information 3rd Degree, both misdemeanors, after making unauthorized transactions with a family members credit card information. Stolen Property/ Weapon Arrest

On December 14th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 22 year old Keojhi T. Branch of Catskill, NY. Mr. Branch was stopped on North Main St for speeding by Officer Montross. Fruther investigation revealed that Mr. Branch unlawfully possessed an electronic stun gun and property that was stolen from the Vent Fitness Gym locker room located in Guilderland, NY. After turning himself in on an arrest warrant he was released on his own recognizance due to appear back in the Shcodack Town Court at a later date.

Stolen Motor Vehicle Arrest

On December 10th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 50 year old Robert Packard of Pittsfield, MA. Around 06:30 PM the Schodack Police Department responded to the Mobil gas station on Miller Rd for a suspicious vehicle complaint. Upon their arrival patrol officers observed a subject with the vehicle who then appeared to be eluding from police by walking towards the Comfort Inn. He was interviewed and after several discrepencies in his story the officers determined the vehicle was stolen from Massachusetts. He was arrested and charged with the felony of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree. He was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail on $20,000 bail with a preliminary hearing set for 12/14/2017 at 02:00 PM.

Assault 3rd Arrest

On December 08th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 36 year old Jared Leinfelder of Schodack, NY. Mr. Leinfelder was arrested after injuring his girlfriend during a domestic dispute. Disturbance leads to multiple charges

On November 22nd, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 26 year old Jordan Schultz of Ohio, Illinois. The Schodack Police Department was dispatched to the Comfort Inn and Suites on Miller Rd late at night and found that Mr. Schultz was creating a disturbance at the hotel but was being restrained by good samaritans. Mr. Schultz had started a small fire in his hotel room, damaged a phone at the clerks desk, and was attempting to go after staff before being detained by other hotel guests. He was arrested and charged with the felonies of Falsely Reporting an Incident in the First Degree, Criminal MIschief in the Third Degree, and the misdemeanors of Arson in the Fifth Degree and Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree. He was remaned to the Rensselaer County Jail with bail ($10,000 cash or bond) with a preliminary hearing set in the Schodack Town Court.

Investigation leads to two arrests

On November 20th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested two individuals stemming from a larceny investigation. A report was filed for construction equipment that was stolen from a job site on Reno Rd. Two suspects were taken into custody the same day with some of the property being recovered.

24 year old Nathaniel Prezorski of Cobleskill, NY was arrested for Grand Larceny in the Third degree, a felony and the misdemeanors of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree and Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument after he was found to be possessing a needle and concentrated cannabis.

30 year old Lance Grady of North Greenbush, NY was arrested for the misdemeanor of Petit Larceny.

Both were released on their own recognizance due to appear in the Schodack Town Court on 12/13/2017 at 06:00 PM.

Assault 3rd Arrest

On November 19th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 19 year old Robert Burl of Schodack, NY. Mr. Burl was arrested for the misdemeanor of Assault in the Third Degree after an altercation occurred between him and a friend resulting in physical injury to the victim. Mr. Burl was processed at the Schodack Police Department and released on an appearance ticket due to appear in the Schodack Town Court on 12/13/2017 at 06:00 PM.

Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Arrest

On November 17th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 29 year old Antoinette McCloud of Albany, NY. Ms. McCloud was stopped on State Route 9 for running a stop sign. She was found to have numerous suspensions on her drivers license and refused to exit her vehicle when advised to do so by the patrol officer. She was removed from the vehicle by patrol officers and taken into custody. She was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor as well as traffic tickets. Possesion of Forged Instrument 3rd Arrest

On Novemeber 13th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 54 year old Diane Smith of Albany, NY. Ms. Smith was arrested after an investigation revealed that she had cashed stolen checks at the Sefcu on Miller Rd. She was charged with Petit Larceny and Possession of a Forged Instrument, both misdemeanors. She was released on her own recognizance and will appear back in the Schodack Town Court.

Aggravated DWI Arrest

On Novemebr 2nd, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 68 year old Douglas Conlan of Clifton Park, NY. Patrol Officers stopped Mr. Conlan, who was towing a camper with his pick up truck, for erratic driving on State Route 9J. He was found to be impaired by alcohol and taken into custody. His BAC at the patrol station was 0.25%. He was released on traffic tickets due to appear in the Schodack Town Court on 12/06/2017 at 06:00 PM.

On November 1st, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 20 year old Jacob Blair of Nassau, NY. Mr. Blair was stopped on Columbia Turnpike for an exhaust system violation and turn signal violation. He was found to be in possession of approximately 1.9 pounds of Marijuana. On November 10th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 32 year old Matthew Cunningham of Averill Park, NY. Mr. Cunningham was observed in a vehicle in the Sefcu parking lot on Miller Rd and taken into custody by an officer who was aware of his Bench Warrant out of the Schodack Town Court. Mr. Cunningham was found to be in possession of Heroin and Hypodermic Needles as well as driving on a suspended license. He was arraigned in the Schodack Town Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail with bail due to appear back in court on 12/13/20147 at 06:00 PM.

Petit Larceny Arrest

On November 8th, 2017 the Schodack Police Department arrested 45 year old Laurie Bush of Schodack, NY. Ms. Bush was charged with Petit Larceny after stealing products from the Rite Aid store located in the Schodack Plaza on Columbia Turnpike.
